Welcome to VETRO’s Network News! We compile cool tidbits of fiber network and connectivity news from around the web to end your week connected.

Here at VETRO HQ this week, we welcomed some new faces to our ever-growing network of fiber family.

First up, we are so happy to welcome Enterprise Account Executive Leila Zayed to the VETRO team! And, the first in a new series of VETRO customer spotlights, we extend a warm welcome to Idaho's Chickadee Wireless, rolling out fiber this fall. Keep an eye on our blog for exciting newcomers to VETRO in the coming weeks.

Speaking of keeping an eye on things, do you follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn? We post news you can use (and the occasional fun stuff), like jobs in fiber, funding initiatives and some cool projects our dev team is working on. Get social with us!

CostQuest AutoDesign in the VETRO Platform

With the FCC's Rural Digital Opportunity Fund bid window in full swing, we've been focused on educating our users on bidding with VETRO. Part 2 of our RDOF for VETRO workflow is up on our blog.

Next up, our data partners CostQuest Associates have published a fantastic RDOF resources guide, including timelines, requirements, and info on using their broadband location fabric data for your bid.

In a big win for Louisiana Electric Coops, Governor Edwards vetoed a bill last month that would have prevented ECs from being able to fully offer fiber to their 1-million-plus members. The Governor's decision was in response to over 500 petitions gathered by the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives, with the support of NRECA. Hats off to their hard work paying off!

Your VETRO Network Newscaster always likes to end a Friday on an interesting note, so for cool fiber news this week, check out this piece about how Google is leveraging their existing sea floor fiber cables to detect earthquakes and tsunamis that works across formerly impossible distances, without specialized equipment. Perhaps the VETRO team should get started mapping the sea floor next!

From all of us at the VETRO team, have a fantastic weekend!
